Roseanne Barr Gets Revenge On Jimmy Kimmel: “Jimmy Kimmel did blackface and ABC just let that go”

Roseanne Barr put Jimmy Kimmel in his place for not supporting her when she was fired by ABC for comments she made about Valerie Jarrett. Barr said that ABC “knew that I had made a mistake, and yet they did not allow me to go on any of their other shows and apologize for it.”

She said at minimum she should have been allowed on programs hosted by celebrities who’ve had their own “more egregious” controversies. She brought up ABC late-night host Jimmy Kimmel who had to apologize after photos of him in blackface surfaced.

Roseanne said: “Jimmy Kimmel and his former girlfriend, Sarah Silverman, they did blackface, and ABC never even said ‘It is wrong that you did that.’ And they just let that go.”

Barr praised Judd Apatow for defending her: “Now I can’t remember his name, but I gave him his first job and he’s a huge director—not Joss Whedon, but the guy who directed 40-Year-Old Virgin.”

Jimmy said about Roseanne at the time: “What @TheRealRoseanne said is indefensible, but angrily attacking a woman who is obviously not well does no good for anyone.

“Please take a breath and remember that mental health issues are real.

“The Roseanne I know could probably use some compassion and help right now.

Kimmel admitted wearing blackface was “embarrassing” before trying to pass the buck to Don Trump Jr.

“It was coming from the Donald Trump Jr.’s of the world, people who do a tremendous amount of damage to this country in order to elevate themselves and to make themselves famous and to make money.

“And it just seemed like things were taken out of context and I wanted to put them back into context and move past it.”

Roseanne also took issue with treatment of other male comics.

“I say in my act that I racially misgendered someone I assumed to be a white woman, but Dave was purposely offending who I am and got away with it and was protected for doing it, which, to me, shows what a double standard everything in this country is about,” Barr said about Dave Chappelle.

“Sometimes I say that if it wasn’t for double standards, certain people in this country on the left side, they’d have no standards whatsoever. And it really makes me mad, and that’s part of what drove me to come back.”
