Rand Paul Issues Challenge To Anthony Fauci: “If Republicans take Congress he’s going to be made to testify under oath, and I hope he sticks around because we do have some questions

Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., put Dr. Anthony Fauci on notice warning him if the GOP takes back Congress in the midterms they will call him to testify under oath.

Paul said: “I think it’s very good news for the truth. If he’s going to stick around, we’ll wait to see if it happens. But if he’s in public employment, we will subpoena him. He will have to appear and testify under oath. If Republicans take charge of the House or the Senate or both, he will have to testify under oath because a million Americans died.

“And we want to know about was there a cover-up in trying to suppress any link to the lab in China? I do fully believe this virus, this pandemic that killed 6 million people around the world, leaked from the lab.

“But I think there was a concerted effort by him and his colleagues to cover this up and make sure it didn’t come to light, that the NIH was funding that lab and that there was reasonable scientific evidence that suggests that it came from the lab.

“So he’s going to be made to testify under oath. And I hope he sticks around because we do have some questions,” he said.

Fauci told Politico he will end his more than five decades of federal service by the end if Biden’s term.

Fauci said: “It’s becoming more and more difficult to get people to listen because even the people who are compliant want this behind them.

“That doesn’t mean giving up.

“What I try to convince them of, with my communication method, is we’re not asking you to dramatically alter your lifestyle.

“We’re not asking you to really interfere with what you do with your life.

“We’re just asking you to consider some simple, doable mitigation methods.

“I don’t think there is anything else that I, Tony Fauci, can do except leave behind an institution where I have picked the best people in the country, if not the world, who will continue my vision.

“I don’t need to be there for HIV, because we have enough good people that could carry it on.

He said of the GOP who may launch a probe into his leadership after the midterms:

“If that’s what you want to investigate, be my guest.

“My telling somebody that it’s important to follow fundamental good public health practices, what are you going to investigate about that?

“They’re going to try and come after me, anyway.

“I mean, probably less so if I’m not in the job.

“I don’t make that a consideration in my career decision.”

As to when he will end his government career, he said he’s leaving by the end of President Joe Biden’s term.

“We developed an interesting relationship,” said Fauci of Trump.

“Two guys from New York, different in their opinions and their ideology, but still, two guys who grew up in the same environments of this city.

“I think that we are related to each other in that regard.”
