After Florida Baseball Team Goes After 2nd Amendment – Governor DeSantis Quickly Denies Them $35M For New Facility
With violence erupting across America, lawmakers are scrambling to find solutions. Most Democrat leaders simply want to pass stricter gun control measures, while Republicans believe there are deeper issues.
These GOP members also believe in supporting the Constitution 100%. While President Joe Biden says the Second Amendment is “not absolute,” many Republican leaders and voters disagree.
As for Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, his position is now clearer than ever.
He heard that a big Florida-based organization released a few anti-2A statements, and announced it’d be donating a lot of money to leftist anti-2A groups. This didn’t go over well with DeSantis.
The Tampa Bay Rays are a significant draw, as most professional sports teams are for their states. And Florida had planned to give them $35 million for new spring training facility.
However, the Rays released a statement after the Uvalde tragedy that said “if nothing changes, nothing changes,” signifying support for more gun control.
The team also donated $50,000 to Everytown for Gun Safety’s Support Fund, so they can “amplify the facts about gun violence in America.” Again, there’s the assumption this means clamping down on gun rights.

Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL) plans to veto tens of millions of dollars that were earmarked for the Tampa Bay Rays after the team released an anti-Second Amendment statement following a couple of recent tragedies.
‘DeSantis plans to veto a $35 million legislation for a Pasco County facility that’s earmarked for the Tampa Bay Rays’ spring training,’ OutKick reported.
‘DeSantis’s decision is in response to the Rays politicizing recent shootings in Buffalo and Uvalde ahead of a matchup with the Yankees in May.’
The Florida Governor has shown his unwavering support for the Constitution in numerous ways.
For example, after learning of Disney’s far-left angle earlier this year, he stripped the corporation’s special tax privileges. “I’m just not comfortable having that type of agenda get special treatment in my state,” he said.
Disney had also opposed one of the Governor’s bills, the “Parental Rights in Education Act,” which gave power back to parents, in regards to the sorts of material their children see in school.
Now, DeSantis is standing up for the Second Amendment by denying the Rays their new training facility.
The GOP firmly believes that the country is suffering from a deeply entrenched set of issues, and implementing stricter gun control measures won’t fix those issues.
Most Republicans point out that the cities with the tightest gun control laws are some of the most dangerous, with sky-high incidents of firearm-related crimes. They also say criminals don’t abide by laws, anyway.
But no matter what, the 2A debate will continue to rage as violence continues to plague the nation.
