See It: Social Media Erupts Over Photo of Hillary Clinton at Met Gala
Sporting a new look, former secretary of state and presidential candidate Hillary Clinton attended Monday’s Met Gala event.
Clinton was maskless, though, the Daily Wire notes, “in one glaring photo circulating on social media, a black male, who is wearing a mask, fluffs up the back of Clinton’s dress, as the former secretary of state smiles on.”
Clinton has been a staunch proponent of mask mandates. In 2020, she shared in a social media campaign funded by Johnson & Johnson to urge others to mask up. As recently as February, reporters spotted Hillary sporting a mask while outdoors.
But more than her unspoken declaration that the pandemic was over or that COVID could not penetrate the boundaries of the Gala event, it was her bold look that made headlines.
Conservative commentator Greg Price posted a photo of the event with the simple caption: “A picture’s worth a thousand words.”

Many posts were not so gracious.
One of the more interesting posts came from Ian Miles Cheong. His photo of Clinton shows her sporting the “OK” sign, which he notes in recent years, the left has claimed is a sign synonymous with “white power.”

After the event, Clinton railed against reports of a leaked Supreme Court opinion that indicated the intent to overturn Roe v. Wade. She did not lament the leak — but was infuriated by the “opinion.”
“Not surprising. But still outrageous,” Clinton said of the report. “This decision is a direct assault on the dignity, rights, & lives of women, not to mention decades of settled law. It will kill and subjugate women even as a vast majority of Americans think abortion should be legal. What an utter disgrace.”

Vogue reporters seemed most intrigued with Clinton’s off-the-shoulder dress, reporting that it included the names of 60 famous women in American history who “inspired” the politician.
Dress designer Joseph Altuzarra gushed:
“When someone like Hillary goes to The Met, it’s not just, like, ‘There’s Hillary at The Met and she’s wearing a dress.’ It has a lot of significance. I felt like I had to be very thoughtful about what the dress would mean to the theme and to the occasion.”
Unfortunately for Altuzarra, it is not Hillary’s dress that is lighting up social media channels.
