Bill Barr Compliments ‘Elegant’ Melania Trump In New Book: “I had always thought Melania was smarter than the President

Former Attorney General Bill Barr has a new book out, One Damn Thing After Another, where he seems to take swipes at all sides and settles some old scores with everyone except Melania Trump. In the book, he describes meeting Melania for the first time describing her as elegant and intelligent. At one point Trump told Barr he only had the job because of the first lady.

“You know what saved you?” Trump told Barr after he was confirmed. “Melania. She came to your rescue. She is now your biggest fan.” Barr fired back. “Well, I could tell she has good sense.

“We were watching the hearing together, and when I got angry, she said, ‘Are you crazy? Look at him. Right out of central casting. He looks and acts like an Attorney General. Leave him alone—he is carrying himself just right, and he will be confirmed, which is what you need,’” Trump told Barr.

“I had always thought Melania was smarter than the President,” Barr quipped.

While Barr has been feuding with the former President in public he told NBC he would still vote for Trump in 2024 if Trump was the GOP nominee because ‘the greatest threat to the country is the progressive agenda.’

NBC’s Savannah Guthrie asked Barr:

“You say in your book you were worried about the peaceful transition of power. You even had national security concerns.

“None of this is present in this resignation letter. Didn’t the American people deserve to know what you knew?”

“The idea that something could be done later on Jan. 6 was nonsense,” Barr said.

“Once the election was locked in on Dec. 14, I tendered my resignation and I knew Trump was going to be leaving office.”

“I certainly have made it clear I don’t think he should be our nominee, and I’m gonna support somebody else,” Barr said.

“But if he is the nominee and your choice is Trump or whoever’s running on the Democratic side, would you vote for him?” Guthrie asked.

“Because I believe the greatest threat to the country is the progressive agenda being pushed by the Democratic Party, it’s inconceivable to me that I wouldn’t vote for the Republican nominee,” said Barr.

“So even if he lied about the election and threatened democracy…Better than a Democrat?” Guthrie asked.

“As of now, it’s hard for me to conceive that I wouldn’t vote for the Republican nominee,” he said.
