Voters Rebuke Dems, Hand Clean Sweep To GOP In Virginia

Voters told the Dem Party to go pound sand in race after race last night dooming the Dem Party in the 2022 midterms. In Virginia, the Dem Party watched the GOP sweep elections up and down the ballot.

Gov.-elect Glenn Youngkin (R) defeated former Gov. Terry McAuliffe (D). Winsome Sears (R) beat the Dem in the race for lieutenant governor. Republican Del. Jason Miyares (R) will defeat incumbent Attorney General Mark Herring by a few points.

Republicans also seemed to pull off a shocking upset to take control of the Virginia House of Delegates. The Republicans lost a total of 22 seats over the last three elections. They only thought they could pick up one or two seats this time, but instead they took back the chamber in a total repudiation of the Dem Party.

“Tonight’s historic upset is proof that Virginians are ready to move closer to an optimistic vision for the commonwealth marked by the protection of individual freedoms and liberties, where parents are empowered, where businesses are allowed to do what’s best for them and their employees, and the safety of communities is a priority number one,” RSLC president Dee Duncan said in a statement.

The New Jersey governor’s race is too close to call and no one thought that was going to be close. That is a loss for the Dems because they will lose the House and Senate in a landslide if they can barely win a blue state like New Jersey.

Trump said: “It is looking like Terry McAuliffe’s campaign against a certain person named “Trump” has very much helped Glenn Youngkin. 

“All McAuliffe did was talk Trump, Trump, Trump and he lost! What does that tell you, Fake News? I guess people running for office as Democrats won’t be doing that too much longer. 

“I didn’t even have to go rally for Youngkin, because McAuliffe did it for me. Thank you to the MAGA voters for turning out big!”

In New Jersey’s closer-than-expected governor race, Republican challenger Jack Ciattarelli and incumbent Democrat Phil Murphy were locked in a virtual draw, even though registered Democratic voters outnumber Republicans by more than 1 million. Democrats clung to hope because more votes were due to be counted in their strongholds.

The results in two states that Biden won easily last year over Donald Trump represent a dire sign for Democrats heading into the 2022 midterms, which will decide control of the U.S. Congress – and with it, the future of Biden’s policy agenda.

Polls leading up to Election Day showed that Youngkin closed the gap with McAuliffe by appealing to independent voters – a group alienated in 2020 by Trump’s style of politics but more drawn to Youngkin’s congenial manner – despite McAuliffe’s attempts to link Youngkin to the former president.

“Comparing him to President Trump really didn’t resonate with me,” Jacob McMinn, a program manager at a defense contractor, said after casting his vote for the Republican in Fairfax, just outside Washington.
