President Biden got busted telling a whopper to Jewish leaders Thursday saying that he spent time at the Tree of Life synagogue in Pittsburgh after the October 2018 mass murder of 11 people there.
“I remember spending time at the, you know, going to the, you know, the Tree of Life synagogue, speaking with them,” Biden. “My daughter married a Jewish young man. And, you know, it’s the dream of every Catholic father that she married a Jewish doctor.”
“We had a chuppah on the altar. Now some of you aren’t gonna like this, but it was co-officiated by a Catholic priest as well as a Jewish rabbi.”
“I happen to be a practicing Catholic and one of the things I like about my pope today is that he’s all about renewal and forgiveness and I hope I’m going to get to see him in the not too distant future,” Biden said.
Only one problem, Barb Feige, executive director of the Tree of Life, said that Biden has not visited the synagogue since the attack.
In a phone interview with the New York Post, Feige, executive director since July 2019, said that “no” Biden didn’t visit.
“Discrepancy? You mean Joe Biden flat out lied about visiting Tree of Life synagogue,” the Republican Jewish Coalition tweeted.
“The ultimate irony: the person who actually did visit in 2018 with members of the Jewish community? His predecessor.”
Strange story: President Biden told Jewish leaders today that he visited the Tree of Life synagogue, site of worst anti-Jewish attack in US history— Steven Nelson (@stevennelson10) September 2, 2021
But synagogue says he didn't visit. WH has not responded to requests for comment on the discrepancy https://t.co/mMPoVuDuD1
Here’s Joe Biden talking about visiting Tree of Life synagogue after the massacre there. The executive director of the synagogue says Biden is lying — he never visited. Totally normal. pic.twitter.com/GcFjU2u50i— Arthur Schwartz (@ArthurSchwartz) September 2, 2021
