New York Dems Draw Up Articles Of Impeachment For Disgraced Gov Andrew Cuomo

Sharing is caring!

Key New York Democrats just signaled the end to disgraced Gov Cuomo’s reign of sexually harassing women is over confirming they drew up articles of impeachment for Cuomo. Attorney General Letitia James found that Cuomo “sexually harassed current and former state employees in violation of both federal and state laws” after completing her investigation.

“The independent investigation found that Governor Cuomo harassed multiple women, many of whom were young women, by engaging in unwanted groping, kisses, hugging, and by making inappropriate comments,” James said.

“It took 179 witnesses and a statewide investigation by the Attorney General to hold one powerful man accountable—tell me again that New York doesn’t have a power problem,” Assembly Member Yuh-Line Niou said before adding the dagger, that she drafted Cuomo’s articles of impeachment.

“I had them drafted yesterday,” Niou said.

“These women were just trying to go through a day doing their jobs,” Niou said. “They never asked to be abused or harassed.”

State Senator Alessandra Biaggi said:

“I am calling on him to resign,” Biaggi tweeted. If Cuomo refuses, I am calling on [Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie] & the Assembly to move to impeach immediately.”

“The assembly needs to act,” she said. “Within the next day.”

But none of that would mean anything without the backing of Carl Heastie, the 100th Speaker of the New York State Assembly, and a key Cuomo ally. Heastie was said to have protected Cuomo from earlier investigations.

But he is singing a different tune and it all but guarantees Cuomo will be impeached.

“After our conference this afternoon to discuss the Attorney General’s report concerning sexual harassment allegations against Governor Cuomo, it is abundantly clear to me that the Governor has lost the confidence of the Assembly Democratic majority and that he can no longer remain in office,” Heastie said.

“Once we receive all relevant documents and evidence from the Attorney General, we will move expeditiously and look to conclude our impeachment investigation as quickly as possible,” he added.

From New York Post:

Assembly members described the virtual meeting on Cuomo’s fate as long, with many lawmakers speaking out against the governor.

One Assembly member said “not a single voice of support” was expressed for Cuomo.

“I think all of us are reeling from the report as most of us did not expect this today …dozens spoke up,” the lawmaker said.
