Dan Bongino’s New Show Beats CNN And MSNBC Combined As Fox Dominates Ratings

Fox News has a new star according to the ratings, actually two new stars. Fox continues to dominate the cable ratings and add new hit shows like Dan Bongino’s new weekend show that beat MSNBC and CNN combined over the weekend.

Bongino’s new show was the most-watched cable news program of the week over the weekend. But in some terrible news for CNN and MSNBC, Bongino’s new show beat them combined. Ouch. Dan’s new show “Unfiltered” averaged 1.8 million viewers during the show’s inaugural episode and beat CNN by a stunning 248 percent and MSNBC by a whopping 308 percent. 

Fox News was also the only basic cable network to surpass the one-million viewer mark, averaging 1.1 million to finish as the most-watched cable network (again) from May 31 through June 6. 

But Fox also has another hi9t show and new star – Trey Gpwdy’s “Sunday Night in America with Trey Gowdy” debuted over the weekend and dominated CNN and MSNBC.

Gowdy’s show averaged 1.3 million viewers during its debut on Sunday at 7 p.m. ET, topping CNN by 160 percent and MSNBC by 177 percent. As Bongino and Gowdy helped Fox News maintain its advantage on weekends, “Tucker Carlson Tonight,” “The Five” and “Hannity” continued to crush the competition on weekdays. 

“Tucker” was the most-watched show in cable news, averaging 2.7 million viewers, while “The Five” averaged 2.5 million and “Hannity” averaged 2.4 million to dominate their timeslots.

In fact, “The Five” outdrew anything CNN and MSNBC had to offer regardless of timeslot despite airing at 5 p.m. ET. 

The NBA playoffs-heavy TNT averaged 2.4 million viewers during the hours of 8-11 p.m. to finish first in that category, as Fox News finished second with an average of two million primetime viewers. 

MSNBC, HGTV and ESPN rounded out the top five, as CNN’s struggling primetime lineup of Anderson Cooper, Chris Cuomo and Don Lemon averaged a dismal 779,000 to finish outside the top ten most-watched primetime networks.

NBC Sports Network, TLC and History were among the networks to outdraw CNN as viewers continue to ditch the liberal network.

“Unfiltered with Dan Bongino,” which airs at 10 p.m. ET Saturdays, was the most-watched cable news program all weekend.

It took in 1.751 million total average viewers, of whom an average of 307,000 were in the advertiser-coveted age demographic of 25 to 54. Comparatively, CNN took in an average of 469,000 total viewers in that time slot, with 90,000 in the key demo. (CNN was screening a movie, “Dreamland: The Burning of Black Wall Street,” from 9 p.m. ET to 11 p.m., so Bongino’s show competed with the final hour of the film.) MSNBC, meanwhile, brought in an average of 429,000 total viewers for “American Voices With Alicia Menendez.” Of those, 75,000 were in the demo, on average.

In Sunday’s 7 p.m. ET hour, “Sunday Night in America With Trey Gowdy” brought in an average of 1.292 million total viewers, with 156,000 of them in the demo.

“CNN Newsroom” took in an average of 496,000, of whom 89,000 were demo viewers. MSNBC’s “American Voices” saw a total average of 458,000 viewers Sunday at 7, with 66,000 of them in the demo.
