Supreme Court Rejects Texas’ Attempt To Challenge Election Results In Key Swing States

Sharing is caring!

The U.S. Supreme Court rejected the Texas lawsuit seeking to overturn the election that was joined by over 17 other GOP-led states, 106 GOP Congressman, and President Trump himself.

The vote was unanimous to reject the effort although Alioto hinted he would have heard the case but would not have stopped the Electoral College vote Monday to do so.

President Trump will no doubt mount a faithless elector’s effort as was done in 2016 and you can be sure a few GOP reps will challenge the results, as was done in 2016, but with a Dem House and enough GOP Senators on Biden’s side, those efforts will have little to no chance.

From NBC:

The U.S. Supreme Court on Friday said it would not consider a lawsuit filed by Texas that sought to overturn Joe Biden’s election victory in four battleground states.

While the suit attracted President Trump’s support and was endorsed by many Republicans in Congress, it suffered from several legal and factual shortcomings.

President Donald Trump called the case “the big one,” and 126 of the 196 Republicans in the U.S. House urged the court to take it.

Supporters of the Trump campaign saw the Texas suit as their best hope for derailing a victory for Joe Biden before the actual presidential vote is cast by the Electoral College on Monday. But the court ruled that Texas had no legal right to challenge how other states conduct their elections.
