Elon Musk Delivers Six-Word Response After William Shatner Asks to Be Twitter’s New ‘Face’

Sharing is caring!

William Shatner wants to help new Twitter-owner Elon Musk “to boldly go where no man has gone before.”

Shatner is famous for his role as Captain James T. Kirk of the U.S.S. Enterprise in the “Star Trek” series and movies.

“BTW, since it seems to be the latest ‘thing’ on here. I’m stating that I’m staying on Twitter,” Shatner said Thursday in a tweet. “Besides I think @elonmusk is adorbs. Also, full disclosure: I’m trying to pitch Elon to hire me as face of Twitter.” He followed his comment with the hashtag “dumpthebird.” His comment has received more than 90,000 “likes.”

Musk’s response?

“You will always be my Captain,” he told Shatner.

Various celebrities and left-leaning pundits have complained about Musk’s $43 billion purchase of the social media platform.

Shatner posted his comment to reassure fans he had no intention of fleeing Twitter as some others had threatened to do, according to a report in The Daily Wire.

MSNBC columnist Eric Garcia appears to oppose Shatner becoming the face of Twitter. “This here is what we call #ActuallyAutistic hell,” Garcia wrote in a Friday Twitter post. Garcia wrote “We’re Not Broken: Changing the Autism Conversation.”

Garcia was one of a small handful to rain on Shatner’s parade; most comments applauded the idea.

“Captain Kirk as the face of Twitter will be the ultimate Kobayashi Maru for the extreme right and the extreme left, hence will abide by the @elonmusk maxim of irritating them equally hence being truly neutral as a social media platform,” Warpcore founder Sahil Mohan Gupta said on Twitter.

“I’m with Capt. Kirk,” commented America First host Sebastian Gorka. He added the hashtag “DumpTheBird.”

Another commenter called Shatner a “slam dunk bird replacement.”

Of course, Musk probably welcomes humorously supportive tweets like Shatner’s more than one recently received from Democrat Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

“Tired of having to collectively stress about what explosion of hate crimes is happening bc some billionaire with an ego problem unilaterally controls a massive communications platform and skews it because Tucker Carlson or Peter Thiel took him to dinner and made him feel special,” the New York congresswoman said in her Twitter post.

Musk’s response? “Stop hitting on me, I’m really shy.”
