New York Times Tells Hillary Clinton To Go Pound Sand, Refuses To Print Statement She Thinks Vindicates Her Actions
Former presidential candidate Hillary Clinton’s team is not happy with the New York Times after the paper refused to let her sully their pages with her spurious attempt to claim vindication for her past behavior by trashing former President Donald Trump.
Trump is back in the news over handling of documents as he left the White House and while he was in the White House. Hillary, of course, believes this vindicates her but she is not even close. We don’t know the full story about Trump’s documents yet but Trump was elected president and the office comes with different rules than Secretary of State.
Hillary was an unelected bureaucracy appointed to her job and she knowingly set up a private email server so she couldn’t be FOIA’d. They are not the same thing and it seems the New York Times agrees in some way because they refused to print her gloating statement.
Nick Merrill, a longtime aide to Clinton, was not happy and said:
“The @nytimes just printed a story on Trump’s mishandling of classified information. They asked for comment from @HillaryClinton’s office as this exposes his hypocrisy. In typical form, the NYT’s editors declined to print the comment, so posting it here.
“The 2-year frenzy over emails was a political Rorschach test, where everyone saw everything different in what was ultimately nothing. Call it sexism, Republican depravity, ratings-hungry media, it’s time we acknowledge it was bulls—, and write that into the history books.”
New York Times journalist Maggie Haberman broke the Trump story saying:
“As I was reporting out this book, I learned that staff in White House residence would periodically find the toilet clogged. The engineer would have to come and fix it.
“And what the engineer would find would be wads of clumped up wet, printed paper – meaning it was not toilet paper. It was either notes or some other piece of paper that they believe he had thrown down the toilet.”
Trump denied the report:
“The media’s characterization of my relationship with NARA is Fake News. It was exactly the opposite! It was a great honor to work with NARA to help formally preserve the Trump Legacy.
“Another fake story, that I flushed papers and documents down a White House toilet, is categorically untrue and simply made up by a reporter in order to get publicity for a mostly fictitious book.”
