Dem Rep Hands GOP Huge Gift Ahead Of Midterms, Doubles Down On Using ‘Defund The Police’ Slogan
Rep. Cori Bush (D-Mo.) just handed a huge gift to the Republican Party as the nation turns towards the 2022 midterms. Bush went on record with a warning to her fellow Democrats that she will not stop using the politically toxic slogan “defund the police”
That slogan was largely responsible for the Dem losses in seats they should not have in 2020. That slogan is why Joe Manchin is the most powerful man in Washington DC and why Nancy Pelosi has a slim margin in the House.
And with crime out of control in Dem run cities that slogan, if the Dems keep using it, will lead to shocking losses in safe blue seats. Bush said: “I always tell fellow Democrats, ‘If you all had fixed this before I got here, I wouldn’t have to say these things.
Bush acknowledged her party needs to do a better job of explaining exactly what it means with
“Defund the police’ is not the problem.
“We dangled the carrot in front of people’s faces and said we can get it done and that Democrats deliver, when we haven’t totally delivered.
“If Republicans take the majority, it’s just done as far as trying to get the legislation across.”
“Oh, absolutely,” Bush said about Dems asking her to stop using the slogan so they stand a chance in the 2022 midterms.
“I’ve had colleagues walk up to me and say that defund the police doesn’t help in their districts.”
“If we couldn’t get George Floyd done back when millions of people were marching in the street, then how do we expect to get more than one thing done on policing over the next few years,” she said about breaking up the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act into smaller pieces that can pass as many want to do rather than try and fail again on a big bill.
Axios: “Rep. Cori Bush (D-Mo.) says she's not going to stop using the slogan ‘defund the police’ ahead of this fall's midterms — even though some of her colleagues have made that request” https://t.co/Qj2tysdU4H

My colleagues keep telling us to wait.

They keep telling us defunding the police and investing in communities won’t work.
Well their policies keep ending up with police murdering Black people.
Enough patronizing. Listen to the movements that are telling you how to save lives.
