Federal Court Just Threw Biden Into Penalty Box – They Rule His Mandate Can’t Force Docs To Violate Their Religious Beliefs
The controversy surrounding transgender surgeries continues to swirl. Citizens on both sides of the aisle tend to have strong opinions on the matter.
On top of that, the religious freedom issue comes into play as well. Christians especially have problems with the transgender issue.
And now, a federal court has ruled their religious freedom cannot be violated.
Originally, President Joe Biden threw down a mandate that required doctors to perform transgender surgeries.
This caused a big problem for some doctors with religious beliefs, who do not agree with the entire practice.
That’s when the lawsuit came down, with the plaintiffs arguing that they shouldn’t be forced to do something they don’t believe in.
It’s a Freedom of Religion principle at its core, and that was the point they wanted the court to consider.
And it worked: Biden’s mandate has been blocked.
Via The Daily Caller:
Judge Reed O’Connor of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas, Wichita Falls Division, granted ‘a permanent injunction’ to the Christian plaintiffs ‘to be exempt from the government’s requirement to perform abortions and gender-transition procedures.’
It was a significant victory for many right-wing individuals who also don’t agree with the mandate.
Even if you’re not particularly religious, if you lean right, there’s a good chance that you will support this court’s decision.
Vice President and senior counsel at Becket Fund for Religious Liberty Luke Goodrich said:
Today’s ruling protects patients, aligns with current medical research, and ensures doctors aren’t forced to violate their religious beliefs and medical judgment–a victory for common-sense, conscience, and sound medicine.
In this case, the plaintiffs consisted of a group of over 20,000 healthcare professionals.
The ruling is especially significant, because it also encompasses abortion.
According to the report, the decision stops Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra from enforcing the law “in a manner that would require them to perform or provide insurance coverage for gender-transition procedures or abortions.”
This has been a battle dating back to 2016.
Then-president Barack Obama put down the same mandate, requiring doctors and hospitals to provide transgender surgeries.
And it did not include any conscience or religion exemptions, either.
However, that has all changed now, thanks to the court’s final decision. And as far as many are concerned, it was the right decision.
