According to CNN, “Immediate family members of the monarch, who is 96, have been informed of the concern for her health.
Her son Prince Charles, along with Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall and the Queen’s grandson Prince William, have traveled to Balmoral.
From Buzzfeed:
Having reigned for more than 70 years and through the premierships of 15 British prime ministers — starting with Winston Churchill’s second term — she was the longest-serving British monarch and, until her death, the longest-serving head of state on the planet.
Due to the stunning longevity of Elizabeth’s reign, only a minority of people alive can vividly remember life as it was before her 1952 ascension. For decades, she endured as a steady presence — whether in ceremonial pageantry or Christmas Day speeches, seen waving from carriages or in profile on the back of currency — as the world around her changed in dizzying ways.
From The Daily Mail:
The Queen is under medical supervision after doctors became concerned for her health this morning, Buckingham Palace revealed today, as the Prince of Wales, Camilla and the Duke of Cambridge to be with the 96-year-old monarch.
Her Majesty’s immediate family members have been informed about the downturn, her spokesman said, leading to her two heirs – Charles and William – going to her bedside amid escalating fears for the monarch’s wellbeing.
Prince Andrew, Princess Anne and Prince Edward are all expected in Scotland with one of the Royal Family’s helicopters landing in the grounds of Her Majesty’s Scottish home this morning.
A royal spokesman said: ‘Following further evaluation this morning, The Queen’s doctors are concerned for Her Majesty’s health and have recommended she remain under medical supervision. The Queen remains comfortable and at Balmoral.’
A statement about the Queen’s health is exceptionally rare and suggests the situation is very serious. One insider said: ‘This is deeply worrying. The Palace don’t normally do this’.
