Nancy Pelosi Denies Maria Bartiromo’s Report That She Wants Joe Biden To Appoint Her Next U.S. Ambassador To Italy
Speaker Nancy Pelosi denied a report from Fox Business Maria Bartiromo that said Pelosi was eyeing a new job. Maria claimed Pelosi wants Biden to appoint her the next U.S. ambassador to Italy.
Drew Hammill, Pelosi’s deputy chief of staff, said: “The Speaker has no interest in this position and has not discussed it with anyone in the White House.
“This is the second time Maria Bartiromo has proceeded with reporting anonymous rumors about the Speaker’s future that have no merit. And the second time she has failed to ask us for comment before airing or publishing this utter nonsense.”

“Sources tell FOX Business that Pelosi wants President Biden to nominate her to become the next U.S. ambassador to Italy if the GOP takes the House majority in the midterm elections.
“Biden is holding the spot for the speaker, sources say, which is one reason he has yet to fill the position since taking office.
“Speculation earlier this year that a Pelosi ally and former Wall Street executive wanted the job has shifted with the increasing likelihood that the GOP takes the majority.
“There was no clarity yet on how a new Senate will react to a Pelosi nomination, but there was a mixed reaction to her in the role from sources this week.
According to The Daily Caller:
“Nancy and Paul Pelosi frequently vacation in Italy, and the ambassadorship to the Mediterranean country is a coveted post often given to supporters of the nominating president.
“The speaker has visited Italy at least four times on personal and official visits since 2015.
“Taxpayers paid more than $184,000 for Pelosi and several other Democrats to visit the country in 2015.
“Despite the visit being an official congressional delegation, four family members reportedly joined Pelosi, and attendees dined at the $190-per-plate James Beard American Restaurant.”
