PH: Pelosi Gets Tangled Up in Criminal Trial – Forced to Announce It Before Congress

Former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi has avoided the limelight in recent months. After losing the majority, she lost the position she had held for years.

She has not stepped down from Congress, however. And it appears the woman will continue holding onto her California seat for the foreseeable future.

But the Democrat was hit with something of a scandal, recently. She got entangled in a criminal case from her home state. And she had to announce it before the entire Congress.

Former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) was served with a subpoena Wednesday which was announced on the floor of the House of Representatives later in the evening.

The House Clerk read out a statement revealing the contents which is standard when a member is issued a subpoena related to a civil or criminal matter…

“I… Nancy Pelosi… have been served with third party subpoenas from the prosecution and the defendant to produce documents in a criminal case and United States District Court for the Northern District of California.”

Pelosi was served a subpoena regarding a criminal case out of California. The House Clerk read a statement prepared by Pelosi, which is part of House procedure. According to her statement, Pelosi was issued with subpoenas both by the prosecution and defendant in the case.

Despite announcing this to the House, Pelosi did not reveal the details of this criminal case. Speculation abounds over why Pelosi has been called to appear during this trial.

Some believe it is connected to the much-discussed attack against her husband from last year. Countless rumors and controversies emerged over that attack, whose details are still shrouded in mystery.

This case might also be related to Pelosi’s husband’s DUI conviction, which resulted in his arrest in early 2022.

But the man who had allegedly attacked Paul Pelosi is set to go on trial this month. So most in the media believe Pelosi will be appearing in court over that case.

Last year, a home invader allegedly attacked Paul Pelosi. The shocking attack made national news, just before the midterm elections. Conservative commentators put forward radical theories regarding the attack, as some of the early information appeared contradictory.

Should Nancy Pelosi be testifying during this case, it is unclear what she might contribute. Reports indicated that Pelosi was not at home at the time of the attack.
