Trump’s Attorney on What She Saw in the Courtroom After Mook Implicated Hillary: ‘I’ve Never Heard so Many Pens Click & Immediately Start Writing’
Many spectators at a Washington trial perked up when a witness implicated Hillary Clinton in dirty tricks against Donald Trump.
One witness attending the trial of Michael Sussmann, a former Clinton campaign lawyer, is an attorney for former President Trump.
“I never heard so many pens click and immediately start writing,” Trump attorney Alina Habba said Friday, adding, “That was big.”
Habba was addressing reaction to testimony from former Clinton Campaign Manager Robby Mook.
Sussman, a campaign lawyer for the former First Lady, is being tried in a Washington, D.C., federal court on a sole count of lying to the FBI. After damaging testimony was provided by former FBI General Counsel James Baker, the defense called former Clinton Campaign Manager Robby Mook to the stand. Mook, who managed Clinton’s failed 2016 presidential bid, said she signed off on peddling election disinformation.
The disinformation, which Sussmann provided to Baker, alleged ties between the Trump Organization and Russia’s Alfa Bank. Sussmann was charged with lying to Baker, saying he was not passing the information to the FBI on behalf of any client. He reportedly said he was just trying to be a good guy and perform his civic duty. Sussman told Baker he was coming to him because he learned that a reporter had been given the story and thought the FBI may want to investigate it first.
“I got reporters asking me for clarification,” Habba said. “What did that mean? What did that mean? Are they in trouble? And I said, ‘That was very big. That was very big. He just cut it right to the top.”

“Thank you very much, Robby Mook, for what you did today,” Trump’s attorney exclaimed. “Remember the media they went to was Slate.” Habba noted that occurred around the same time Clinton was allegedly deleting emails and having her own problems with her own servers.
“On October 31, ironically, she retweets Jake Sullivan’s tweet that OMG! Cybersecurity! Crimes!” Habba remarked. “Trump has a server with Alfa Bank!”
“Complete lie!” Trump’s attorney concluded.
Habba also praised Durham’s team for doing a good job during the trial.
