Dems To Bring Out Retread Hillary Clinton To Give Big Speech At NY Convention: Report
Former Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton will make a big speech speak at next week’s New York State Democratic Party Convention according to multiple media reports. This just adds to the rumors are swirling around Dem circles that Hillary Clinton is ready to mount a comeback.
Every day Joe Biden’s poll numbers drop the rumors grow louder as the Democrats have a very weak bench nationally. One source who confirmed that Hillary will be speaking at the convention said it is because Hillary is ‘beloved’ by rank and file Democrats before adding the dagger, “her popularity is likely higher than that of President Biden.”
“She’s beloved by the mainstream members of the Democratic Party and her popularity is likely higher than that of President Biden. It’s good for her because it keeps her relevant and her appearance is likely meant to galvanize the party and the audience,” a source told CNBC.
Chris Melnyczuk, chief of staff for chair of the New York State Democratic Party said:
“We’ve reached out to a number of people to speak and, you know, we’re waiting back on confirmation from a number of people.
“So there are a few things in the works.
“We’ve reached out to a number of folks, we’re not going to say who we’ve reached out to.”
If you think the rumors Hillary wants back in are just that, take a look at Andrew Cuomo. The guy just resigned in disgrace and he wants back.
These people have big egos that preclude them from sitting on the sidelines too long.
From The New York Post:
Last month, Democratic pollster Doug Schoen and former Manhattan Borough President Andrew Stein publicly floated the notion that Clinton, 74, was “already in an advantageous position to become the 2024 Democratic nominee.”
In an op-ed for the Wall Street Journal, they said a “perfect storm” was gathering due to the combination of Biden’s low approval ratings and advanced age, as well as the “unpopularity” of Vice President Kamala Harris.
Clinton, a former secretary of state and US senator from New York, “is an experienced national figure who is younger than Mr. Biden and can offer a different approach from the disorganized and unpopular one the party is currently taking,” they wrote.
Former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo and his aides are intensifying an effort to revive his public standing, including discussing how to make his first public appearance since resigning in August, according to people close to him.
Mr. Cuomo and his remaining aides have been calling former allies and political operatives to complain about New York Attorney General Letitia James, who oversaw an investigation that concluded Mr. Cuomo sexually harassed 11 women, including current and former state employees.
The former Democratic governor has denied touching anybody inappropriately and said the investigation was politically motivated.
