Trump Gets Landslide Win In CPAC 2024 GOP Nomination Straw Poll After Barely Losing Last One

Former President Donald Trump won the 2024 GOP presidential nomination poll by a wide margin after the last informal poll by a regional group showed DeSantis leading Trump by a few %. This time Trump got 70% of the vote while DeSantis pulled 21%.

“I mean, they — they’re immune from so many different things. But they’re not immune from this lawsuit” Trump said today of big tech to Fox News host Maria Bartiromo

“I can assure you it’s going to be interesting. I can assure you people will be outraged,” Donald Trump Jr. said of his father’s upcoming CPAC speech.

American Conservative Union chairman Matt Schlapp said Trump will use his speech to wage “the fight against Big Tech and the fight against illegal immigration – the fight to fire Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer.”

“I think he’s got masterful plan to do that, and I think that he’ll be sharing that with folks,” Schlapp said.

From Fox News:

Trump, who’s repeatedly flirted with making another presidential run in 2024 to try and return to the White House, captured 70% of ballots cast in the anonymous straw poll, according to results announced by CPAC on Sunday afternoon.

That’s a boost from the 55% support he won in the hypothetical 2024 Republican primary matchup straw poll at CPAC Orlando in late February.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis came in a distant second, at 21%. No one else among the 19 potential 2024 Republican White House contenders topped 1%.

From The Hill:

The results from the regional CPAC convention come after DeSantis ran narrowly ahead of Trump in a poll of potential 2024 candidates in a survey conducted last month at the Western Conservative Summit in Denver.

That survey found that 74.12 percent of respondents said they would approve of DeSantis for president in three years, compared to 71.43 percent who said the same of Trump.

The Florida governor won 275 votes, while the former president received 265.

A straw poll from the annual CPAC in February, showed Trump with 55 percent of the vote, followed by DeSantis at 21 percent and Noem at 4 percent. Without Trump in the mix, DeSantis received 43 percent of the vote.
