Joy Behar Tells Inappropriate Sex Joke About Gay NFL Player, Tries To Take It Back But Damage Done: “That inappropriate joke I made for daytime television, scratch it, make believe I never said it”
Joy Behar crossed the line today on ABC and if it was a conservative who made the same joke on ‘The View’ you know she would have been shown the door. Joy made an inappropriate, by her admission, sex joke at the expense of the first openly gay NFL player, making it even worse.
Las Vegas Raiders defensive lineman Carl Nassib came out yesterday to the nation and to his NFL colleagues and many wondered whether he would face a backlash but none thought it would come from the liberal Joy Behar.
She shamelessly tried to take her comment back later in the show but the damage was done leaving ABC with some tough choices coming up. Ana Navarro started off by saying: “I know that locker rooms are very a toxic place, I remember when former NBA player Jason Collins came out.
“I remember when there was another NFL player who had been drafted — whose name of course escapes me — came out, it was a media circus. It was a really big deal.”
Navarro then said of Nassib: “He’s cute too. I, like, want to set him up.”
Enter Joy Behar: “You know, Ana, after they said penetration in the end zone, they lose me.”
Joy later tried to take it back but the damage was done.
She said:
“That inappropriate joke I made, for daytime television, scratch it, make believe I never said it.”
Nassib said when he made his announcement: “I just wanted to take a quick moment to say that I’m gay.
“I’ve been meaning to do this for a while now but finally feel comfortable getting it off my chest. I really have the best life, the best family, friends and job a guy can ask for.
“I’m a pretty private person so I hope you guys know that I’m not doing this for attention. I just think that representation and visibility are so important.
“I actually hope that one day, videos like this and the whole coming out process are not necessary, but until then I will do my best and my part to cultivate a culture that’s accepting and compassionate.”
Yikes! This joke from Joy Behar during a discussion of the first active gay player in the NFL.
