Trump Overrules Pelosi’s Power Grab, Shuts Down Radical Demands As Stimulus Deal Seems Imminent

Sharing is caring!

President Trump just shut down a last-minute power grab by Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi.

Pelosi saw an opportunity to profit politically from the crisis and the chaos in the Senate and rushed a pork riddled monstrosity of a bill towards a showdown.

The move was panned by all sides – even some on the left were aghast at Pelosi’s attempt to stuff the stimulus bill with a radical wish list.

Thankfully, Trump shut that down last night and the Senate agrees and we are close to a deal in which Pelosi gets nothing she asked for at the last minute.

“We expect to have an agreement tomorrow morning. There’s still a few little differences. Neither of us think they’re in any way going to get in the way of the final agreement,” Schumer said.

“Republicans had a deal until Nancy Pelosi rode into town from her extended vacation,” Trump tweeted late Monday.

“The Democrats want the Virus to win? They are asking for things that have nothing to do with our great workers or companies,” Trump said. “They want Open Borders & Green New Deal. Republicans shouldn’t agree!”

Tom Cotton broke down Pelosi’s arrogant power grab. He wrote:

Families and businesses need help now to survive the China virus pandemic. But @SpeakerPelosi walked away from negotiations to write her own bill, full of absurd provisions completely unrelated to the crisis at hand. Here’s what Speaker Pelosi is demanding while Americans suffer:

Corporate pay statistics by race and race statistics for all corporate boards at companies receiving assistance

Bailing out all current debt of postal service

Required early voting

Required same day voter registration

10k bailout for student loans

For companies accepting assistance, 1/3 of board members must be chosen by workers

Provisions on official time for union collective bargaining

Full offset of airline emissions by 2025

Greenhouse gas statistics for individual flights

Retirement plans for community newspaper employees

$15 minimum wage at companies receiving assistance

Permanent paid leave at companies receiving assistance

The Democrats see an opportunity in this crisis. Not to help the American people, but to hold an emergency relief bill hostage until they get their radical wish list.

How long will Arkansans and Americans across the country have to wait?”
